Today, Stemilt is one of the leading tree fruit growing and shipping operations in the world. The fifth generation, led by Stemilt president West Mathison, leads the family business and continues to deliver flavorful fruits including apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines and organics.
Over a century ago, the Mathison family settled on Stemilt Hill, a fertile growing region located on the edge of the Cascade Mountains near the town of Wenatchee, Washington. They planted their first 10 acres of apples, pears and cherries in 1914.
By 1964, second generation farmer and tree fruit pioneer Tom Mathison founded Stemilt Growers under the premise that people everywhere should have access to fruit that is rich in flavor.
