The sweetest of the sweet, one of the most popular apple cultivars in the United States and unrivaled in Japan, is the Fuji apple. Fuji was developed in Japan as a cross between Red Delicious and Virginia Ralls Janet apple varieties.
Fuji apples are a fantastic choice for those with a sweet-leaning palate. The apples contain a high 15° to 18° Brix (also known as sugar content), giving off the flavor of freshly-pressed apple juice.
Characteristics
Exterior: Reddish stripes and slight red blush over a yellow background
Interior: Firm, creamy-white flesh that is fine-grained
Eating Experience: Fuji apples are crisp and very juicy with a sugary-sweet flavor resembling that of freshly-pressed apple juice
